Elizabeth Shreeve

Principal, San Francisco

“Coming from a medical family, the topic of health has deep roots for me. As a design-based planner I aim to create active, enduring projects that connect people to nature and to each other. Trails, parks, campuses, the spaces between buildings—these are the places where we walk and cycle, where we learn and play with our children and find community. The landscape is where we get healthy.”

Elizabeth is an urban planner and designer with over 32 years of experience in land use, landscape architecture, and site restoration. As planning leader in SWA’s San Francisco and Sausalito studios, she focuses on urban infill and revitalization, campus planning, public outreach and communications. Elizabeth works closely with multi-disciplinary teams and public and private clients to translate physical, economic, and cultural factors into enduring physical designs and policy strategies that emphasize health, wellness, and sustainable practices.

An active member of the Urban Land Institute, Elizabeth serves as Chair of ULI’s Sustainable Development Council. She contributed to ULI’s Building Healthy Places Toolkit and has authored numerous professional articles including Open Spaces and Active Transportation (Urban Land). Her speaking engagements for ASLA, Yale University, USBGC, ULI, Housing California, and APA addressed best practices for achieving health, resiliency, and sustainable outcomes through design of urban environments.
